Shipping

We use UPS for 99% of our shipments.
(scroll to bottom of page for instructions on how to figure an "estimate" for shipping.)

After we weigh each cone of yarn for a "net weight" (the yarn less the cardboard cone)
and choose the appropriate size box for the shipment,
we weigh the entire order for a "gross weight" (UPS requires us to round up to the nearest pound).
After entering the weight and dimensions of the box,
www.ups.com calculates the rate
and this is what the customer is charged.

If a package weighs less than 5 pounds, we check USPS (US Mail) to see if it is more
economical.  Since we use "Click-n-Ship," Priority Mail is the only option available
where the Post Office will come and pick up the package.  With only one person in the Store,
we cannot close our doors to make a trip to the Post Office to ship any other method.

Each order also has a Handling Fee which is calculated as follows:

Up to 68 lbs. = $5.00
69 to 120 lbs. = $8.00
121 lbs. to 200 lbs. = $12.00
Each additional 40 lbs. = $2.00

To get an idea of what your shipping charges will be on a particular order:

Add all of the pounds ordered, keeping in mind that we sell by the "full" cone
and try to get as close as we can to the pounds requested...i.e., if you order 1 pound of a
particular yarn, the cone may weigh 1.4 pounds, etc.

After you have the total pounds ordered, add another 1 pound for every 8 cones ordered
to cover the weight of the actual cardboard cones the yarn is wound onto
and 3 pounds for the weight of the box it will be shipped in.

Then go to www.ups.com; choose "Calculate Time and Cost" under the "Shipping" tab;
put in your zip code and ours (37336) along with the estimated total pounds.
This should give you an "estimate" of what your shipping charges will be.

If you have trouble, please call us and we'll be glad to help you get an "estimate."
