About Us

Hi, my name is Phyllis Narus and I'm the proud owner of R&M Yarns.  I purchased the business on November 30, 2005, from Mr. Weldon Williamson and moved the business to Cleveland, Tennessee, from Adairsville, Georgia.  Three years later, I built a new building for R&M and moved once again to our current location--Georgetown, Tennessee.

This is my first attempt at running a business and it has sure been an education!  I can't believe everything that is involved in operating a successful business.  I now have much more respect and emphathy for small business owners everywhere!

Currently, R&M Yarns is being operated solely by myself and my oldest daughter, Candee.  So, when you call R&M, you will speak to one of us.  Even though there is just the two of us, we have an earned reputation for fast and accurate shipments and are always available to speak with our customers about their yarn needs.  One of the most frequently heard comments from our customers is:  "Wow...I can't believe I got my yarn order so fast!"

When I'm not babysitting my young grandson (born in 2010) or buying yarn, I'm working with the everyday business aspects of R&M or teaching weaving classes in our Studio.  Candee currently teaches all of our dye classes.

R&M Yarns focuses primarily on supplying yarns wound on cones which our weavers and machine knitters love.  We also have an assortment of yarns in skein form....regular-priced and a large selection of discount or half-priced yarns.

Our Gift Shop offers many "one-of-a-kind" items created primarily by myself and Candee with a few items from local artists offered as well.

Below is a history written by Weldon Williams of R&M Yarns....

R & M Yarns began in October 1978, with a prayer and $1000. The first load of yarn was hauled in a dump truck to a warehouse 30' X 40', it had no walls and just a dirt floor, it was really cold.

R & M kept growing, and within 6 months we moved it into a chicken house. Within a year we moved again. This time to a real building, with a concrete floor and a loading dock. This was in the little town of White, Georgia.

God really blessed us in this venture and before we realized it, the business had grown bigger and better. Again, we needed more room, so we had to move. This was our third move. A new 10,000 sq. ft. building. Sales more than doubled, and we needed more space. We had to add on the the building, making a total of 20,000 sq. ft.

In 1998 we sold the 20,000 sq. ft. building in Cartersville, GA.  For the 4th time (and we hoped the last), we moved again to a 21,000 sq. ft. building in Adairsville, GA.  Now with a 15,000 sq. ft. showroom, with over 60,000 lbs. of yarn on display, R & M offers over 200 different kinds of yarn, with a total inventory of 250,000 lbs.

The main reason for this move, was to cut our overhead to a minimum, so we can continue to offer our customers quality yarn at the lowest prices possible.

(Weldon passed away in September 2006.)
